Name: Mathemagics! Math in Digital Age
Date: October 27, 2021
Time: 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM CDT
Event Description:
Dr. Arthur T. Benjamin will join WT virtually October 27th at 6 p.m. to inspire and engage students to have fun learning mathematics and business statistics. This event is free and requires registration. In his presentation, Dr. Benjamin will highlight that mathematics is fun, and that one should feel joy when applying mathematics in their courses and in their future careers. By learning about the value of mathematics in relation to the digital age and to careers, this event will challenge many students’ “negative bias” toward mathematics and learn that mathematics is fun and interesting. Dr. Arthur Benjamin is the Smallwood Family Professor of Mathematics at Harvey Mudd College. He has been repeatedly honored by the Mathematical Association of America for his teaching and writing and was recently selected by Princeton Review as one of The Best 300 Professors in America. He is also a professional magician and one of the world's fastest mental calculators. In the year 2020, he applied his talents to the game of backgammon and was the winner of the American Backgammon Tour.
