Event Description:
The sounds of death and final judgment from Giuseppe Verdi?s Requiem will fill the sanctuary of the First Baptist Church of Amarillo when the West Texas A&M University Choirs and Symphony Orchestra collaborate with the FBC Sanctuary Choir and a powerhouse quartet of soloists including stars of the Metropolitan Opera in 7 p.m. performances Sunday, May 3 and Monday, May 4. Dr. Mark Bartley, associate professor of music, leads the combined forces of 200 performers in this major work. Featured soloists will be Emily Pulley, soprano; Elizabeth Bishop, mezzo-soprano; Brent Reilly Turner, tenor; and Brian Kuhnert, bass. Admission is free, but tickets are required.
