SUMMARY:TEXAS Opening Night for 2016 Season
DESCRIPTION:TEXAS Outdoor Musical Opens its 51st Season in Palo Duro Canyon State Park!\n\n \n\nOpening Night: Friday\, June 3rd\, 2016\n\n \n\nCanyon\, TX- TEXAS kicks off its 51st Season this Friday Night\, June 3rd\, with an enthusiastic company of performers\, technicians\, and staff. Preparations for the 2016 season of TEXAS began in January of this year with auditions held across the United States. The cast and crew are extremely diverse and display a wide variety of talent. \n\n \n\nDavid Yirak\, Artistic Director\; Cloyce Kuhnert\, Music Director\; and Crystal Bertrand\, Choreographer\, form an outstanding creative trio with a proven history of producing spectacular results. For the past three weeks\, cast members have been rehearsing at the Sybil B. Harrington Fine Arts Complex at West Texas A&M University and Pioneer Amphitheatre. This was a test of endurance for everyone involved. With 69 performances ahead of them\, the cast and crew experienced 8-10 hour days\, 7 days a week leading up to the production. \n\n \n\nKris Miller\, Executive Director of TEXAS\, has been encouraging new and innovative ideas to promote ticket sales and increase awareness of the show. This includes various performances by TEXAS Cast in the community throughout the summer. The always-friendly hospitality staff has been preparing for the 65\,000 visitors TEXAS will host this season. With an economic impact in excess of 20 million dollars a year to the area\, it's obvious why Canyon\, Amarillo and the Texas Panhandle look forward to opening the show every summer. \n\n \n\nThis family-friendly story\, written by Pulitzer Prize winning playwright Paul Green\, showcases the romance\, conflict and triumph of the Texas Panhandle in the late 1880's. Green was invited to the Panhandle in the early 1960's to document the region's history through this magnificent drama. Told by creative choreography and beautiful music\; TEXAS weaves a tale of ranchers\, farmers\, and American Indians through the youthful\, unexplored new frontier. The production will be brought to life with the help of 140 cast\, crew\, and staff members working towards another successful season of TEXAS! Show includes nightly fireworks and the new "Dancing Waters of TEXAS!" Grand Finale honoring our Texas Military and Veterans. \n\n \n\nIn lead roles this season are Brian Kuhnert (Uncle Henry)\, Cloyce Kuhnert and Kylie Howell (Aunt Anna)\, Brandon Dawson (Calvin)\, Rachel Wells Dawson (Elsie)\, Kris Miller (Tucker Yelldell)\, Kim Hernandez (Kate)\, Caleb Brink (Dave)\, and Reilly Downes (Parmalee).\n\n \n\nFor interviews and additional information call 806-655-2181 and ask for marketing. \n\n \n\nTickets are available at the TEXAS office in Canyon (on the square @ 1514 5th Ave)\, by phone at 806-655-2181\, on line at texas-show.com or at the Pioneer Amphitheatre in Palo Duro Canyon State Park.
